Make an Impact for Invertebrates this Earth Month

Earth Month is a time to reflect on our impact on the environment and an opportunity to adopt a lighter footprint. There are things that each of us can do to reduce our impact – shop sustainably, consume less, travel locally, and eat plant-rich diets. In addition, we can plant gardens and habitats, advocate for wild animals and wild places, engage in green initiatives in our communities, and support organizations dedicated to protecting the environment.

The issues facing the invertebrates of our planet are many and serious, yet they are an irreplaceable part of every ecosystem on Earth. Xerces needs your support to make a difference for these animals. All of our achievements—every acre of habitat planted, every natural area protected from pesticide sprays, every species protected by the Endangered Species Act—were made possible because of donors like you.

With your help, we can build habitat, fight pesticide overuse, and halt the loss of critical invertebrate species across North America. Here are tax-wise giving options for you to make an impact this Earth Month:

Gifts of Stock

Donating stock can result in a bigger gift to conservation at no additional cost to you. When you donate stocks, bonds, or mutual funds that have increased in value, you may avoid paying capital gains tax. Xerces stock transfer information is available at xerces.org/donate/stock.

IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)

If you are 70½ years or older, you may give up to $111,000 per person each year from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA), provided your donations are made directly from your IRA to Xerces. These Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) may also satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution.

Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs)

Donor-advised funds offer an easy and flexible way to manage your giving. Recommend a gift to Xerces from your DAF today and put your funds directly to work protecting your favorite invertebrates.

However you choose to participate, we are grateful to be in this movement with you.

Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,

Scott Black, Director
