| The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is hiring a Supervisory Veterinary Medical Officer/Biological Scientist.
In this role, you will serve as the Assistant Director of Center for Veterinary Biologics (CVB) Laboratory, sharing the responsibility for input in the formation and implementation of all activities with additional responsibility of full power to act in the Director’s absence when other CVB section leaders are unavailable. The primary responsibility for this position is to provide scientific direction and technical guidance for the CVB laboratory functions.
A successful applicant will have the following experience:
- Writing, reviewing, and approving confirmatory test results, test validation documents, standard operating procedures, or protocols or supplemental assay methods for laboratories
- Advising and leading staff for laboratory activities, such as testing and reagent production
- Applying quality management principles, such as ISO accreditation and standardization principles to laboratory work
- Advising and leading staff for implementation and validation of new technologies for vaccine evaluation, especially for emerging diseases
- Providing consultation to the other unit members in CVB
