APHIS Reopens Public Comment Period for Proposed Additional Exemptions From 7 CFR Part 340

WASHINGTON, December 15, 2023 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) will reopen the comment period on a proposal published on November 14, 2023, for five additional exemptions for plants with modifications that could be achieved through conventional breeding. APHIS is reopening the comment period for 21 days to allow interested persons more time to prepare and submit comments.

APHIS will publish a notice of this reopening in the Federal Register in the coming days. The proposal is available on Regulations.gov.
