26th Annual Franklin County Horse Farm Tour

Horse owners and equine enthusiasts will have the opportunity to visit five horse farms and forage plots in Franklin County on Friday, August 5th. The annual driving tour will begin at 7:30 a.m. and should conclude around 2:30 pm. Participants check-in from 7:30 – 8 am in the parking lot of the Ag Services Building,103 South Bickett Blvd. (401/56 East), in Louisburg. Participants will be asked to carpool to the various stops on the tour. Carpool caravan leaves the Ag Center at 8 am sharp.
Educational programs will be conducted at each stop, along with various informational displays at the lunch stop. A ‘Trick Training’ demonstration will be included at Stop 1.
Topics include:
“Fire ant control in horse pastures and update on the invasive Spotted Lantern Fly”Technology in the barn and facility””Cost saving medical advice and keeping your horse cool this summer”Two forage test plots: “Cool season and warm season pastures/hay for horse owners: planting and management”Event is $18 per person to participate this year with registrations due by Wednesday, Aug. 3rd via Eventbrite.
A pig picking lunch with all the trimmings will be served outdoors at the last stop at Murphy Hay and Feed Farm near Louisburg to those with a meal ticket.
