|Eastern red cedar (Juniperus virginiana L.) has a love/hate relationship with most land owners and managers in the Great Plains region. The Manhattan, Kansas Plant Materials Center (KSPMC) is working with the Kansas State Forest Service (KSFS) to evaluate and optimize an alternative method of eastern red cedar seedling production. Taking advantage of cuttings from male eastern red cedar and adventitious rooting helps produce seedlings that provide the many conservation benefits without the negative drawbacks.
