Dear Nahid,

The Farmers National Company predicts that:

  • 70% of U.S. farmland will change ownership over the next 20 years.
  • Aspiring, new, and beginning farmers are less likely to have grown up on a family farm, therefore less likely to have access to family land to establish a farm business.

Are you interested in establishing a farming career and need assistance evaluating farmland to ensure it will work for you and your farm plan? There’s hope!

This month, we’re sharing an expert tip about how our Farmland Access Program works. The program started in 2018 and continues in 2019 with the launch of the Farmland Access Manual this spring and more direct technical assistance in evaluating farmland. Beyond that, we have news to share about a grant we received and how the shutdown may affect your farm in the coming weeks.

Happy New Year!
