Secretary Perdue Congratulates Gary Washington On Being Named to Federal 100 List
(Washington, D.C., March 28, 2018) – U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue applauded the work of Gary Washington, Chief Information Officer (CIO) at U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), for being named to the Federal Computer Weekly’s (FCW) “Federal 100” list.
“Gary has been an important leader in our IT modernization initiative here at USDA,” Secretary Perdue said. “He has demonstrated dynamic, innovative organizational leadership and is truly an asset to the agency. It is no surprise to me he would stand out among all federal employees, and we are proud to call him our own.”
Washington has years of experience at USDA, having previously served as CIO for USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service and USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. His impressive resume includes the Office of Management and Budget, the Food and Drug Administration, and private industry. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Gary is a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Strayer University in Washington, D.C.
FCW is a weekly magazine publication that provides federal technology executives with the information, ideas, and strategies necessary to successfully navigate the complex world of federal business. Each year they produce a list of the “Federal 100” to spotlight and celebrate the men and women who are making a positive influence in the realm of federal IT.
