| Dear Nahid,
The transition from Summer to Fall is approaching bringing cooler weather with it. Your last set of crops are going into the field and you are beginning to tray up succession crops. It is also a time to begin production planning for 2018 and preparing field space accordingly. In this edition of the Grower’s Toolbox, we’ve got an expert tip on importance and method of scouting your field for pest and disease as you begin your Fall crop. Our thoughts are also with farmers experiencing impact from hurricane season this year and point you to this guide dealing with flooded fields.
Also in this issue, the newly published On-Farm Infrastructure Toolkit, an analysis of the new agritourism laws in North Carolina, information on upcoming EQIP and Organic Cost Share deadlines, and a survey for those who are locally providing products approved for use in certified organic production.
Cheers,

Karen McSwain, CFSA’s Director of Farm Services and Food Systems
