May 9, 2017 Dear BRS Stakeholder, The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) today announced the comment period on the preliminary extension of deregulation to Bayer CropScience’s genetically engineered (GE) canola will remain open until May 30, 2017. The canola is genetically engineered for male sterility and herbicide resistance. This action will allow interested persons additional time to prepare and submit comments. Notice of this comment period closing date will be published in the Federal Register on May 10, 2017. The associated documents (plant pest risk similarity assessment, draft environmental assessment, preliminary finding of no significant impact, and a preliminary determination of nonregulated status) are available for public review and comment until May 30, 2017. |
