USDA RD Announces new Rural Energy Savings Program (RESP)

  • Earlier this week, Secretary Vilsack announced a new program, RESP, which will make $52 million in loans available to energy providers to help small businesses and rural families reduce their energy use and operate more efficiently. Twitter

USDA Awards $5.8 Million to Small Businesses

  • To support rural economic development projects and bolster the number of jobs in communities, USDA awarded $5.8 million in grants and loans this month to organizations in eleven different states through the Rural Microentrepreneur Assistance Program and the Intermediary Relending Program. June is Homeownership Month

Final Promise Zones Announced

  • Earlier this month the Obama Administration announced the final nine Promise Zones within which the government will work with local leaders to boost economic development and improve overall quality of life. Of the nine announced, three fell under Rural Development’s jurisdiction. Twitter
