| Dear Rebecca,
It’s starting to heat up outside and warm season crop production is in full swing. Whether you’re a seasoned farmer or home gardener, that rush of excitement at the first red tomato is irreplaceable. June is the month to start scouting for disease. Rainy weeks can heavily impact disease spread, so keep an eye out for leaf mold and fungal issues. Make sure to check the disease forecasting frequently and stay educated on disease pressure in your area.
We’ve stocked this edition of the Grower’s Toolbox with expert tips on organic weed management and finding a market for your organic grain, plus the Organic Production Handbook and downloadable record-keeping templates to help you keep track of your operation as the summer growing season gears up. We’ve also got several workshops and events coming up this month. I hope to see you there.
Cheers,

Karen McSwain, CFSA’s Director of Farm Services and Food Systems
