| Community is at the heart of all that we do at Xerces. Over the past decade, our community has grown not only in size, but it has grown deeper, more knowledgeable, and more effective. People from all across the country have come together to achieve the same shared goal — protecting the invertebrates of North America that we all so deeply love.
All of you have played a critical role in our success. Our members, donors, and funders, you keep this work going. Xerces depends on you.
To all of the gardeners, naturalists, and educators out there, you lead by example in your communities. Your work is seen. Please keep doing what you do best.
To all of our community scientists and volunteers, your selflessness and commitment to our mission is inspiring. We love seeing your passion for science and education and hearing about your experiences in the field and working with youth.
We appreciate our staff and our board members for having the determination and grit to stick with Xerces through good times and hard times.
This is not going to be a short journey, and the events of the last few days have underscored that it also isn’t a direct or easy journey. Many of our staff have been at Xerces for decades, dedicating their careers to making progress toward a better planet. It will be a long road toward achieving the results that we need to secure the future we envision.
Our promise to you is that we will not give up. We will keep learning, adapting to changing conditions, educating, creating habitat, protecting threatened and endangered species, advocating for pesticide regulation, and most importantly, creating valuable opportunities for all of us to come together. This is what it is all about: community.
Thank you again for standing with Xerces.
Warmly,
Scott Black, Director |
